“BTS’ Jimin is officially the ambassador for DIOR! Jimin is a style icon, everything he wears becomes a trend and immediately sells out! His achievements are far and wide. Dior only had 17 global ambassadors in their 76 yr history and Jimin joins as the 18th and the FIRST ASIAN and the 4th male overall. Jimin received a plaque of recognition from the Cultural Conservation Society in 2019 for his work in promoting the dance outside of Korea by performing the traditional Korean fan dance known as buchaechum at the 2018 Melon Music Awards. It is no surprise that the announcement of him being the ambassador of Dior was received with so much excitement. The French brand made the announcement on its Twitter page and wrote,
“The House is thrilled to unveil our new global ambassador, JIMIN from @BTS_BigHit! Pictured here in a colorful look from #DiorSummer23, the singer is now lending his image to creations from Artistic Director of Dior men’s collections, Kim Jones.” Dior
Jimin is the only idol to have topped the overall rating for three years in a row. He became the first idol to spend 34 straight months at the top of the brand reputation ranking for individual boy group idols in October 2021
Many K-pop idols look up to Jimin as an inspiration or role model, and many of them try to imitate his dancing, demeanor, and stage appearance. Because of this, news and entertainment media have given him the nicknames “Idol of Idols,” “Idol’s Bible,” and “Rookies’ Bible.” Arthur of Kingdom, Bic of MCND, Kim Si-hun of BDC, Woochul of Newkidd, Hyunjin of Stray Kids, Wooyoung of Ateez, Lim Se-jun of Victon, Huening Kai and Beomgyu of Tomorrow X Together, Ni-ki and Jay of Enhypen, are some of the idols who look up to Jimin and have named him as their inspiration.
The band (BTS) and the French luxury brand have been partners since 2019, when Kim Jones, head of menswear at Dior, created stage clothes for their “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world tour.
