“Making, breaking, surpassing, breaking their own record, is not new to BTS. BTS is the artist with the most #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The other artists with the most #1 hit on the Hot 100 this decade is Drake with 5, Ariana Grande with 4, Taylor Swift with 4, Justin Bieber with 3 and Nicki Minaj with 3 as well. The band consisting of Jin, SUGA, RM, j-hope, Jimin, Jung Kook, and V started off in 2013 in an unknown company Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE) and changed the way the world vowed music.
They have been breaking records and surpassing old ones and still maintained their level of high quality, high-standard music. They have maintained their theme in their music of loving oneself, it does get better, it’s okay not to be okay and basically just be yourself.
BTS’ first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 started with their first all-English song “Dynamite” and true to its word, the song blasted through to the top position on the Billboard charts not only that, but it also went ahead to top the chart for the second consecutive week. Their other two English songs, “Butter” and “Permission” to dance occupied the #1 position on the hot 100 with Butter hitting 10 #1s on the chart.
They not only did that with their all-English songs but their other song, “Life Goes On” predominately sung in their native language Korea also hit #1 on the Hot 100.
