“BTS already have a schedule for 2030 which is to be ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo. K- media reported that BTS have accepted the Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun’s request to be the ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo. This will help attract more people to the event. Two of the members of BTS, Jimin and Jung Kook are from Busan so it is a great opportunity for them as well as the other members to promote their home town. With BTS’ massive fanbase, the even will attract a great number of people and will most definitely be successful.
The city of Busan issued a press release saying, “We have officially requested BTS ’s participation as an ambassador for the 2030 World Expo to HYBEH, the agency of BTS”
HYBE’s CEO Park said, “The artists and their agency understand that the World Expo is an event that has a good influence on people around the world, and that it is a meaningful event that goes beyond the Olympics and the World Cup. As we know that the World Expo bid is conducted through competition, we have reached an agreement with all the artists that we will try to take the lead in promoting the world through Korean software”
“If BTS joins in addition to the public relations ambassadors including actor Lee Jung-jae, I expect that interest and enthusiasm for the 2030 World Expo will increase tremendously at home and abroad.” Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon
According to the report, Busan has not yet been selected as the host city which will be decided on 2023. But adding BTS with two of its members from the town adds major weights to it’s chances of being selected so fans will have to wait until then to find out if Busan will have that honor.
Fans have mixed feelings about the announcement, while some are are excited, some still want BTS to rest and focus on themselves instead of being pulled into some sort of politics
