BTS Miss The “Best Group/Duo Performance” Award At The 64th Annual Grammy Awards

“BTS have lost the GRAMMYs for the second year in a row at their nominated category of “Best Group/Dup for Performance” This year’s GRAMMYs were held on 3rd April 2022 at at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. According to BBC amost 22,000 songs and albums were submitted for consideration this year, resulting in shortlists for the main categories being expanded from eight to 10 nominees for the first time. Jazz pianist Jon Batiste was the most nominated artist with 11 nominations.

The Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance is an award given to quality singles within the pop genre for the union of two or more artists in a musical composition. It was one of the new categories for the annual Grammy awards ceremony starting in 2012. It is a combination of the previous categories: Best Pop Vocal Collaboration, Best Group Vocal Performance, and Best Instrumental Performance.

BTS’ “Butter” broke all the records set in 2020 by “Dynamite”. The song, officially had the biggest YouTube Premiere of all time, with 3.89 million viewers watching the song launch live. They also got the record for the fastest music video in YouTube history to hit 10 million views, achieved in just 13 minutes.

“Butter” also registered the most number of views within 24 hours of its release with over 108 million views. The single also broke the record of the most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours with over 11 million global streams. The song debuted in the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and spent a record 10 nonconsecutive weeks on the chart.
