BTS’ SUGA Confirmed Positive With COVID-19 After Returning From His Trip

“BTS have been in the US for the last almost two months for their “Permission to Dance on stage” in LA where they performed for 4 sold out nights, had a performance at the iHeart Radio’s Jingle Ball and appeared on the James Corden show. The members then returned back at different times, Jin, Jungkook and Jimin being the first to arrive in South Korea, then j-hope and V were second to arrive, then followed by RM and SUGA was the last to arrive. All BTS members received their Covid 19 Vaccination when they started their activities abroad, the first being their UN Speech in New York. On December 24th BIGHIT Music announced that BTS member SUGA had been confirmed to have contracted Covid after taking his self quarantine after landing in South Korea and taking the PCR test.

The statement read

Hello. This is BIGHIT Music.

BTS member SUGA was confirmed with COVD-19 on Friday, December 24 during his self-quarantine after taking the PCR test immediately upon his return to Korea on Thursday, December 23.

SUGA completed his second round of the COVID-19 vaccination in late August and is not presenting any symptoms as of today. He is currently administering self-care at home per the guidelines of the healthcare authorities.

SUGA, who has had a number of personal engagements in the U.S. during BTS’ official time off, had tested negative for the PCR test taken before leaving the U.S., and began his self-quarantine after taking the PCR test upon his return to Korea. He received positive results during quarantine, and there was no contact with the other members.

The company places the artists’ health as our top priority, and we will do everything we can to aid SUGA in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the healthcare authorities.

We wish SUGA a quick recovery as he rests with his family since they are taking their extended vacation.
