BTS have been dominating the charts since they debuted and have shown that doing what you love with hard work ends with amazing results. 2020 was a year that many people would love to forget as it was a harsh year that made things that seemed odd to be the new normal. Social distancing meant that people had no physical contact with their loved ones, which was hard because as humans, the physical touch is very crucial. Being cooped up in the house meant that one could not go out for social gatherings which meant no more concerts. BTS stepped in the gap by creating music that was just right for the moment that we were living in.
First came “Dynamite” which blasted on various platforms breaking records on its wake. “Dynamite was sort of like the beginning of something new, something fresh and something lasting. BTS then ended the year with the release of “BE” Album which was their first self-produced album and with it the release of a music video for the lead single “Life Goes On”. And with that, together with all the monthly content that BTS was giving ARMY, 2020 was made better by the seven members, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook.
According to MRC Data that revealed the top records of 2020, BTS’ was the bestselling group and the second-most popular artist overall in the US in 2020 with over 1.5 million pure album sales. BTS’ album ‘Map of the Soul: 7′ was the second-best-selling album of the year, with over 674,009 copies sold. The album, released on February 21, 2020, was also the US’ top-selling physical album with 646,000 CDS sold. BTS’ second album release in the same year ‘BE’ is ranked at No. 5 with 252,000 units sold since its release on November 20, 2020
According to Nielsen Music’s annual year-end report “Dynamite” was the top-selling digital song of 2020 in the US with over 1.26 million downloads, twice the sales of The Weekend’s track ‘Blinding Lights’ that had 580,000 million downloads and was released in 2019. “Dynamite” made history when it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, had 3 non consecutive no #1s, and its still holding its own on the Hot 100 barely six months since it was released on 21st August, which is amazing to say the least.

Congratulations BTS!
